WILL I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH ME?
Bring along details of any prescribed medication you are currently taking. It may also help to have any recent relevant X-Ray's, scans or medical reports with you.
WILL I NEED TO UNDRESS?
You do not have to undress, and we will endeavour to make sure as little clothing is removed as possible at any given time. However, in most Osteopathic appointments you will be required to undress, potentially down to your underwear, so that your Osteopath can carry out an assessment to allow for the best care for you. If you are worried, it may be best to bring some shorts and a T-shirt with you.
WILL YOU 'CLICK' MY BACK/NECK?
Manipulation is a technique used by Osteopaths, but is only used when it is considered appropriate, beneficial and safe for the patient. Like every other treatment method we use, it is only carried out after full explanation and with your full consent.
CAN I BRING A CHAPERONE/FRIEND?
Of course you can! Please be aware that anyone under the age of 16 will be required to have a parent/guardian present during the appointment.

We will always aim to treat at the first appointment, providing that we can establish a diagnosis and that Osteopathy is a suitable method of treatment for your case.
DOES OSTEOPATHIC TREATMENT HURT?
In most cases, no, but some treatment methods can cause an element of discomfort. If at any point it is too much or you would rather avoid these methods all together, your Osteopath will be happy to tailor your treatment accordingly. All treatment methods will be explained to you during the treatment session.
HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER TREATMENT?
Most patients feel a degree of easing or relief after treatment. However, roughly half of patients experience some post-treatment soreness 24-48 hours after treatment. You will be advised by your Osteopath on how to minimise this soreness.
HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TO BE SEEN?
Most patients require between 3-6 treatments, however the number of appointments and the length between will vary, dependent on each individual case. Your Osteopath will be talk to you about this at your appointment.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OSTEOPATHS, CHIROPRACTORS AND PHYSIOTHERAPISTS?
There is an amount of crossover between the professions as they are all manual therapies and regulated health professions, with practitioners being trained to degree level. They vary in primary treatment methods and the approaches they take to healthcare.
